It Was The Best of Times....

it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity......but it wasn't the time to be creative.  I spent a bit of time in my stamp room on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.  I did manage to "start" a few cards, but none are complete.

So I went through to find a photo of something that I hadn't yet shared and lookey at what I found.  Whitney and Greg's wedding card.  This was was the first card (of many) that I made.  Let me tell you why I chose this card for them.

I chose to use kraft, dark chocolate and vanilla for the card.  I think they make such a classic combination.  I also felt that they gave the card a vintage feel, which was perfect for the wedding location.   I used PTI's Celebrations stamp set along with the coordinating die that was designed by Dawn McVey.  Just behind the sentiment panel is a kraft oval cut from one of the Limitless Layers 2.25 oval die collection.  I felt the card needed an extra little pop, but I didn't want to bring in another color.  So, in order to keep the monochramatic scheme going, I used one of the Half & Half dies with a piece of dark chocolate from the Bitty Dot Basics paper pack.  All of those layers were then layered on top a piece of the Dearest Jane patterned paper.  WOW - I am LOVIN' the kraft ink from Papertrey!

The color scheme totally said masculine, so in order to give the card a feminine touch, I chose dies that would bring in the "curves".  The scallops on the oval, the curves of the half & half panel and just take a look at that gorgeous filigree dark chocolate border.  Oh my goodness - that filigree is stunning.

Lastly, I used the corner chomper and rounded the bottom of the card.

When making a wedding card, I never want it to feel to frilly.  I want it to be a card that "the couple" will enjoy.  I was so pleased with the way this card came together.

Later chickies!

Truly perfect! Love this layout, the layers, and the monochromatic color scheme. Just the perfect touch of femininity, without being over the top in either direction. :) Continued wishes for many blessings for Whit & Greg. Lots of love for you, too!!

So beautiful! really Pam, I absolutely love it! I love the kraft and chocolate colours! This card is the perfect balance between beautiful and manly! I love the bottom where the filigree die goes past the dearest Jane paper and ends at the kraft!
